Europride 2019 is THE event in 2019 for lesbians, gays, bisexual, trans- and intersex people, queers and our straight allies on our contintent: Three weeks after the European elections our Rainbow Parade on June 15th will send a strong message to all those who want fear and hatred to prevail over love and freedom, democracy and rule of law in our modern societies. We stand together and proud, celebrating the freedom from fear and legal progress we have achieved. And we will not allow anyone to push us back into the closet!

I attended my first pride parade in Vienna, and it was love at first sight! From the darkness of a nightclub to the bright summer sun! Vienna’s most beautiful street, the Ring, is also one of the worlds most beautiful sceneries for a pride parade! Come and experience it yourself! Let’s celebrate together!

I am really looking forward to experience EuroPride Vienna 2019 as Ambassador. In June, we are not only in the city centre of Vienna, but also the focal point of attention with more than one million participants celebrating Pride like other important customs. Together we proudly show: “This is the world we live in, in all its diversity, community and freedom!”

With EuroPride 2019, we are all celebrating the dream of a world in which everyone is free to be who they are without being chained to clichés and social norms; in which everyone can openly love whom they want to love; the dream of a world free of discrimination on the basis of sex, gender and romantic or sexual orientation, flourishing through its diversity and in which we fearlessly live together in love. It is an overwhelming, liberating and empowering experience to celebrate this attitude to life together with thousands of like-minded people and to share it with the world. And we should definitely continue to celebrate and to march until this dream has turned into reality.
