Vienna Pride 2018 – Love, respect, solidarity

This year’s Vienna Pride, the largest event for LGBTIQ* people and friends, will celebrate solidarity, diversity, and tolerance between June 2nd and 17th. The diversity of the community is reflected in a large number of side events being held this year, in order to increase the visibility of LGBTIQ* people, families and issues in all areas of society.

This year’s (side) events include:

PRIDE Movie Night at Gartenbaukino on 6.6.18
PRIDE Exhibition at Leopoldmuseum on 7.6.18
PRIDE Dinner at Donauturm on 8.6.18
PRIDE Fest & Pride Run Vienna at Prater Hauptallee on 9.6.18
PRIDE Family Day at Zoo Schönbrunn on 10.6.18
PRIDE Classic Concert – Schönbrunner Schlosskonzerte on 10.6.18
PRIDE Special – Keith Haring Exhibition at Albertina on 11.6.18
PRIDE Village 2018 from 12. to 16.6.18
Pride Parade – Regenbogenparade on 16.6.18

The Pride Village on Vienna’s Rathausplatz opens on 12th of June with a women’s focus and is open until 16th of June. A large number of associations will provide visitors with information, national and international music acts will show their solidarity, readings, lectures, and workshops are also part of the programme, including thematic focuses, such as Medical Day. For the first time, in 2018 the PRIDE Business Corner will take place, where well-known companies are represented to inform about equal rights and diversity in work environments.

As every year, the highlight of Vienna Pride will be the Rainbow Parade on 16th of June 2018, for which around 200,000 people are expected. The parade will not only celebrate this year’s motto ‘Love, Respect & Solidarity’, but also draw attention to the worldwide prevailing unequal treatment of LGBTIQ* persons as an important (political) demonstration.
